David’s Garden is in Full Bloom!
David Chubb is a resident at The Brentwood and originally from Boxford. David has had a love of gardening since he was a young boy. His parents always had a garden growing up in Boxford. He would help can the tomatoes and also make salsa. His grandmother would pay him 25 cents a bushel to pick green beans. Two years ago, David decided not to let the fact that he no longer was able to live at home stop him, and he had a garden and started a garden at The Brentwood. Some of the plants he starts from seeds and others are small plants that he buys at a local nursery. The secret to his successful garden is the compost he uses and a little Miracle Grow. He also has it fenced in so the small animals can’t get in. David is currently growing tomatoes, kale, zucchini, butternut squash, and beans. You can find him out at the garden daily, watering, weeding and pruning. When the vegetables are ready David intends to pass out to residents, family members and staff.
